MATERIA is a conversation around an ancient technique that produces fiber-based surfaces facilitated by a loom.
A loom is a system of weights, vertical and horizontal axes. It creates woven artifacts that reflect the author and the environment - therefore a collector of data and an important historical archive.
The installation at Homo Faber was divided in three sections. The first where we showcase the fibers we work with, highlighting their most prevailing characteristics. The central section focuses on an interpreted loom, where we will weave surfaces that collect part of the stories we’ve gathered. A tool transformed into a piece. A piece that produces testimonies. The final section houses the yet assigned function surfaces, exhibited in different shapes to spark possible uses with the help of visitors.
Materials:
Metal, Acacia wood, Bulrush, Cotton Ropes, Stones
